544 billion baht tourism revenue forecast during new year holidays

Thailand is expecting a 44% increase in tourism revenue during the festive season, with 1.1 million foreign tourists spending 41.7 billion baht and 3.76 million Thais traveling.

Tourism Expected to Generate 54.4 Billion Baht in Revenue During Festive Season

The Tourism Authority of Thailand Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool stated that tourism and tourism-related activities during this year’s festive season are projected to generate about 54.4 billion baht in revenue, marking a 44% increase over last year. Spending by approximately 1.1 million foreign tourists through the Christmas to New Year period is estimated at about 41.7 billion baht, a 60% increase from the same period last year, attributed to the increase in flights to Thailand in December, from 3.3 million to 3.7 million seats.

Spectacular Countdown Events Draw Crowds in Bangkok and Pattaya

In Bangkok, magnificent countdown events at the Central World and Icon Siam high-end shopping malls and Wat Arun were packed with both Thai and foreign revellers. Spectacular firework displays and other activities were featured, drawing crowds. Similar celebrations took place around the country. In Pattaya, Mayor Poramet Ngampichet expects that the New Year countdown event and other activities will generate about 3 billion baht in revenues over the festive season.
