Office of the Ombudsman joins with 4 ministries to organize vocational skill enhancement program for Thai students

BANGKOK (NNT) – The Office of the Ombudsman disclosed the progress in promoting the vocational skill enhancement program for students from poor families, who do not continue their studies after compulsory education, after signing a memorandum of understanding with the Ministries of Interior, Labor, Education and Social Development and Human Security. The program is expected to be launched in April 2020.

Mr. Somsak Suwansujjarit, an ombudsman, said 6,251 students had applied for the vocational skill training program, which will take 2-4 months to complete.

Mr. Somsak added that, in order for the project to be implemented effectively, the Office of the Ombudsman has coordinated with various agencies to prepare budgets for the program.

This program is aimed at reducing disparity and improving quality of life. The career training will be held at the provincial office of skill development.
