Bangkok, 11 August 2023 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is currently promoting a series of ‘Amazing Organic Trip’ ideas that focus on organic farming activities, healthy gourmet experiences, and low-carbon footprint initiatives. This aligns with their continuous effort to promote and develop sustainable tourism in Thailand.

Initially introduced in Chiang Mai and Phuket, the ‘Amazing Organic Trip’ routes are custom-made through a partnership between TAT and various partners including the Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association (TEATA), Thai Organic Consumer Association (TOCA), SiamRise Travel, FIND FOLK, Golfdigg, and local tourism communities.

In Chiang Mai, one of the highlights of the Amazing Organic Trip is the Mae Tha Community in Mae On District. This community has been a model organic farming community for the past three generations. Tourists have the opportunity to learn about the community’s dedication to organic agriculture, which benefits the environment, community forest, water resources, and the supply of organic produce to local shops and restaurants in the city.

The trip in Chiang Mai also includes cooking classes where tourists can learn to prepare healthy dishes using locally sourced ingredients. Additionally, there is a gourmet ‘Chef’s Table with the PM2.5 Reduction Menu’, featuring dishes such as grilled fish with local vegetables, fish-based chili paste, spicy local vegetables salad, deep-fried organic baby corn, mixed vegetables soup, and organic sweet potatoes – all made using locally grown produce.

In Phuket, the Amazing Organic Trip focuses on the Ban Bang Rong community, Mai Khao Community, and Phuket’s Old Town. Tourists can explore organic farming practices for pineapple, rubber, and coconut, experience a unique ‘sand spa’ therapy, learn about the conservation of the local ‘Linharn’ herb, and try their hand at catching ‘sand crabs or sea cicadas’, which indicates the area’s well-preserved ecosystem.
