According to Deputy Government Spokesperson Tipanan Sirichana, Phuket was the province with the highest tourism earnings and the most visitors, aside from Bangkok, during the first ten months of this year.

With the launch of the Phuket Sandbox initiative, efforts to resurrect tourism were launched. The program was then expanded to other regions of Thailand, and eventually the nation’s borders were fully reopened since October 1st.
Phuket province in particular raked in about 128 billion baht. Nearly 2.33 million foreign tourists visited the province from January to October 2022. Runner-up Chonburi made 13.3 billion baht in tourism income from 975,000 foreign tourists, while Surat Thani took in 7.6 billion baht from about 607,000 foreign tourists.
