The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to present the next enchanting video in its series dedicated to helping promote and preserve traditional performing arts in Thailand. This video focuses on the delicate and beautiful ‘Gingala Lanna Bird Dance’. The first video in the series, which was released earlier this month, was ‘Khon’ – the beautiful and mesmerising masked dance drama of Thailand.

Admire for yourself the grace and elegance of this Thai Yai-style dance, which has been passed down from generation to generation and is mostly performed in Upper Northern Thailand, particularly in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai provinces.

In the Gingala Lanna Bird Dance, female performers dressed in spectacular fan-shaped costumes evoke the delicate movements and postures of a bird. Another delightful expression of ‘Thainess’, the dance is fascinating, intriguing, and beautiful in its posture, attire, and melody.
