The Royal Thai Government has announced that the Royal Cremation of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej is scheduled to be held on 25-29 October, 2017, at Sanam Luang Ceremonial Ground in Bangkok.

The cremation will take place on 26 October, which has been declared a public holiday in Thailand.

For details of the Royal Cremation, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) would like to recommend that visitors stay updated via media announcements and notices from the Royal Thai Government as well as the Bureau of the Royal Household to ensure accurate information.

For the period of the Royal Cremation, we would like to inform all visitors to Thailand that they can continue with their travel plans as normal. All transportation, banks, tourism and hospitality businesses across Thailand will be operating as usual.

However, we would like to request that the solemnity of these rites are observed. Many Thai people will be wearing black or white clothing as a sign of mourning. This is not required of visitors but if possible, they should wear sombre and respectful clothing when in public. Furthermore, visitors should refrain from conducting any inappropriate or disrespectful behaviour.

We would like to thank all visitors for their understanding and supporting Thailand during this period of time.
