KMITL showcases COVID-19 inventions

BANGKOK (NNT) – King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang. (KMITL) has showcased recent inventions by Thai researchers designed to help combat COVID-19, while revealing the concept to build world’s first hospital with a special focus on development of medical equipment.

KMITL’s Rector Suchatchavee Suwansawas, has revealed the outcomes of cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) as well as other related government agencies and private firms, in developing and producing devices to help in the fight against COVID-19.

Three successful projects were showcased on this occasion, namely a portable ventilator for use in patient transport; a UVC sanitizing robot, and a symptom screening door which uses artificial intelligence to analyze the subject’s heat profile.

Mr Suchatchavee said the university’s concept now, is to construct the world’s first hospital focusing on research and development of medical equipment, where the inventions showcased today will be implemented.

The KMITL has opened a donation campaign for the construction of the hospital. Interested persons can dial *948*1960*100# on their mobile phone to donate 100 baht to the university. The university aims to make this hospital a place to transform Thai medicine from traditional to modern practices, using medical innovations.
