PM launches Gov Cloud 2020

BANGKOK (NNT) – The Prime Minister has officially opened the Gov Cloud 2020 event, highlighting the government’s introduction of a Gov Cloud data platform – a platform designed to help with all development requirements by 2023.

The Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the opening ceremony of Gov Cloud 2020 – The Future of Digital Government event, where he delivered special remarks on digital and smart government.

In his speech, the Prime Minister said Thailand must implement more technologies to solve problems and become a digital country, able to overcome the current COVID-19 crisis and future challenges.

He said the government is pushing forward with the Smart Government initiative, urging government agencies to adopt their 4.0 version and adjust their services towards the New Normal, which will help both the general public and the private sector, and help streamline national administration.

The government launched the Gov Cloud data platform as a central cloud system for government agencies, allowing the agencies to have access to a single database.

The government wants this platform actively to help with administration, and serve as a central database facilitating operations of government agencies, while creating positive interactions between government agencies and the public.

The government will be training personnel, along with the implementation of advanced technologies to achieve the most benefit for the general public.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister urged the Cabinet to find ways to help alleviate poverty in the country, through the implementation of digital technologies.
