LAMPHUN (NNT) – The Deputy Minister of Education inspected the 1 Rai 1 Hundred Thousand Project at Lamphun College of Agriculture and Technology which is a model for the wider implementation of the project.

Khunying Kallaya Sophonpanich, Deputy Minister of Education, led a team to inspect implementation of the educational management policy and deliver educational management policies to administrators, teachers, personnel and students from 11 northern agricultural technology colleges, public and private educational institutions under Lamphun Vocational College, Lampang Vocational College, Lampang Polytechnic College and Chiang Mai Technical College.

The concept of farming in an area of 1 rai 1 hundred thousand was developed from intensive farming agriculture. It is aimed at allowing farmers to live a happy life. Each project area differs according to its context. The principle of farming is to focus on self-sufficient production of a variety of products for adequate consumption within the family. This helps reduce the costs of food and production. When there is produce left over from household consumption, it can also generate income for the family resulting in people having better quality of life.

The 1 Rai 1 Hundred Thousand Project focuses on systematic thinking of farmers on the land, processing of produce and distribution in order to generate income for farmers regularly, in addition to creating knowledge and skills for farmers in work planning.
