HESRI opens National Science and Technology Fair 2019

BANGKOK,18th August 2019 (NNT) – The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (HESRI) has opened the National Science and Technology Fair 2019 which highlights nine cutting-edge scientific works that will inspire children and youth.

At the opening of the National Science and Technology Fair at IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Hall 6-12, Muang Thong Thani, which features innovations from 17 countries, Mr. Weeraphong Phaesuwan, President of the Advisors to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation said science, technology and innovation are keys to leading the country to changes, that may free Thailand from the middle income malaise , reduce inequality, enhance quality of education and reduce conflicts. Human resources are an important factor that will lead to suchchanges.

The event is aimed at celebrating an important occasion for science and the world community as this year marks the 150th anniversary of the invention of the periodic table, and the 50th anniversary of the journey to the moon of three astronauts in Apollo 11, which was the beginning of boundless dreams and a driving force for mankind to do things that previously could not be achieved.

The event also features a new lego prototype activity, and the first creative imagination in Thailand to promote learning and enhance skills at all ages. It is one of the nine highlights on display. There are also a science project contests, as well as national and international seminars and creative learning skills outside the classroom where children and youths can experience new freedoms.

The Prime Minister’s Science Award 2019 was also presented to provide moral support to teachers and students who submitted their scientific work for the contest. Those interested can visit the event until August 25.
