The Thai government is waiving re-entry permit fees for migrant workers from Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar during Songkran, promoting family visits and strengthening labor relations, from April 1 to May 15.
The Thai government has introduced a temporary waiver of re-entry permit fees for migrant workers from Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar. This initiative aims to facilitate their return home for the Songkran holiday without incurring extra costs.
Karom Polpornklang, Deputy Government Spokesperson, noted that this measure is part of Thailand’s effort to strengthen labor relations with its neighbors and lessen the financial burden on migrant workers who wish to celebrate with their families. The exemption applies only to those holding valid work permits.
The waiver is effective from April 1st to May 15th. After this period, returning workers will need to adhere to standard re-entry procedures. Karom emphasized the importance of migrant labor to the Thai economy and the government’s commitment to supporting these workers.
