Thailand Holds British Husband in ‘Lady of the Hills’ Case

Authorities in Thailand detained David Armitage, the British husband of Lamduan, whose body was discovered in 2004. Investigations into her mysterious death continue amid visa breaches.

Authorities in Thailand have detained David Armitage, the British husband of Lamduan Armitage, whose body was discovered in the Yorkshire Dales over 20 years ago. Lamduan, originally known as Seekanya, was found deceased in 2004, but her identity remained a mystery until a police appeal in 2019 brought her family forward.

Thai immigration police detained the 62-year-old Armitage in Kanchanaburi for visa violations. They stated that his visa was revoked, and further actions concerning international cooperation on criminal investigations will follow.

North Yorkshire Police confirmed they are aware of his detention and have previously sent detectives to Thailand to meet with Lamduan’s family after DNA testing identified her. If deported, he can choose his destination, potentially returning to the UK, where authorities will seek to question him regarding the investigation.
