Natural Resources Minister speeds up measures for Water, Forest issues

BANGKOK, 3rd August 2019 (NNT) – Natural Resources and Environment Minister Warawut Silpa-archa, has delivered a policy to executive officials of the ministry and hastened measures to solve water and forest problems.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment’s policies are in line with national strategic plans and economic and social development plans pertaining to water resources, the environment, natural resources and administration and management of the resources.

Urgent measures call for the handling of critical drought with the distribution of water for consumption by affected communities and drilling of artesian wells in drought-hit areas. Medium-term measures call for an increase in the volume of water available at water resources to obtain sufficient rainwater for distribution to drought-hit areas. Long-term measures call for the development of water resources and water distribution systems and the drilling of artesian wells in all rural areas.

The minister instructed the officials to speed up preparations for the ministry’s budget expenditure plans for fiscal 2020 which are yet to be submitted to the Budget Bureau.
